Apprentices working on a project at Seven Holy Founders.

The finished project!
Plasterers' Local #3 continues its relationship with the Missouri Civil War Museum at Historic Jefferson Barracks in 2010. For three years our apprentices have been afforded the unique opportunity to learn the plastering craft while at the same time restoring a historically significant building  that will house artifacts and memorabilia from Missouri's dual personality in the Civil War.
The scope of the training at the museum includes work over metal lath, blue board, ornamental techniques, sand finishing and smooth trowel finishing.
Local #3 apprentices are required to complete a minimum of 144 hours of classroom and hands-on skills training in each of the 3 years of their apprenticeship.
If you have interest in building a career as a plasterer, you must be at least 18 years of age, be capable of performing physical tasks and you must have a high school diploma or be working toward your GED.
Apprentice classes are held during the month of January.  Hours of classes go from 7am to 3:30pm M-F.
